Supporting "Bad Behaviour"

"I love the online delivery and the self-paced availability. I live in a rural area and don't receive the opportunity for face to face on a regular basis."

ABOUT THE COURSE

This is a recording of a live online event we did with Jeff A Johnson in September 2020. Upon purchasing, you will be welcomed into the course. You will then be able to watch the recording of the session and complete an assessment/reflection.

What will I learn from the course?

Activities like running, climbing, throwing, punching, pinching, kicking, biting, and yelling are often labeled as bad behavior and many early learning settings attempt to limit them--if not outright ban them. This session takes a contrarian view, looking at these activities as learning opportunities and offers up ideas for encouraging and supporting them. It turns out these things can be done in safe ways--without hurting others--and don't have to create friction between children and their caregivers. Learning Goals - Attendees will: Understand the developmental benefits for supporting running, climbing, throwing, punching, pinching, kicking, biting, and yelling. Acquire ideas for creating a space where kids can run, climb, throw, punch, pinch, kick, bite, and yell. Examine their feelings and policies about running, climbing, throwing, punching, pinching, kicking, biting, and yelling
