The aim of this course is to help early childhood educators understand the impact of Aboriginal history by sharing some of the stories of people who once lived at the Cherbourg mission. This is followed up by a Live Zoom conversation with Jackie Bennett, the curator of the film and founder of Connecting 2 Culture, where we will unpack your reactions and understandings and how it may effect the people in your service.
This unique course is comprised of four live sessions which have been designed to give educators an interactive experience to build their confidence, understanding, skills, and knowledge in integrating an Aboriginal perspective into the delivery of learning experiences and spaces. Also covered will be the exploration of ways to engage and maintain relationships with Aboriginal community members. Woven into the discussions will be tips on how we increase participation of Aboriginal people in learning and community spaces. A brief outline of the program is presented to give a general idea of the flow of the sessions. The interests or needs of the participants will influence the mode of the delivery of each of the sessions.
