Inspiring Artists

Inspiring artists isn't just about creating environments, or having the right resources -although those things certainly are important! What we really want to urge you to do in this course is to think about your role as an educator in supporting children to explore the creative arts.

What you'll learn:

  • The differences between 'Art' and 'Craft'
While often used interchangeably, this course will focus on the importance of art in providing children with opportunities to express their ideas and make their learning visible.
  • Environments, Materials and Interactions
By reflecting on how children use environments, materials, and our own interactions, we can have a huge impact on the level of both wellbeing and involvement of the children in our care.
  • The Benefits of Prioritising Process more than Product
Explore the benefits and disadvantages of experiences which focus on the end product more than the process of creating as well as practical strategies for documenting children's art.

This course will guide you through reflecting on your current approach to children's art, as well as providing practical ideas for meaningful ways of supporting children's artistic expression.
